Origin:
The violet plant is native to Europe and is grown for its scent in Southern France (Grasse). The oil is produced using the blossoms and haulm (herb) of the sweet violet. Cold-pressed olive oil or peanut oil is used to extract the precious substances of the violet.
Characteristics and substances:
Violet oil contains the valuable active substances of the sweet violet, namely saponines, essential oil, violin and salicylic acid compounds.
Applications:
Violet oil, as well as crabapple oil, is used in Hildegard-medicine.
