Origin:
Passiflora incarnata L. is native to southeastern states of North America - Florida, Texas, Virginia, Oklahoma, etc. The plant can also be found on the Bermuda Islands, the Antilles, Brazil, Argentina and India. Due to its magnificent blossom the passion flower already fascinated Spanish sailors in the 16th century. The passion flower prefers sunny, rather dry, not too fertile soil and grows as a climbing plant in dry hedges and on slopes.
Characteristics and substances:
The yellow passion fruit seed oil, also known as maracuja oil, is cold-pressed and has a fruity scent. It mainly contains linoleic acid as well as oleic acid and palmitic acid.
Applications:
The exotic oil, with its slightly sour taste, is ideal for making sorbets, drinks, jams and sweets.
