product description
Master plant: Punica granatum L.
Punicaceae (Pomegranate family)
Oleum Punicae granati
INCI: Punica granatum
Origin:
Made native as hedges and shrubs, the pomegranate tree is mostly found in the Mediterranean region. The original home of the fruit and ornamental tree is South West Asia. The pomegranate tree, also known as 'Grenadine', is an ancient cultivated plant and belongs to the Lythraceae, the willow-rich family. The large, bright red colored fruits are covered by a leathery skin and the fruiting body is filled with red pulp and seeds.
Characteristics and substances:
The light to golden yellow, pleasantly nutty-scented pomegranate seed oil is an excellent facial oil for dry, mature and stressed skin due to its high content of phytoestrogens and the antioxidant effect of punicic acid.
Applications:
The pomegranate seed oil can be applied pure or mixed with a base oil. As a skin treatment - applied pure - it has regenerating and activating effects on the skin and supports acute skin problems. Mature skin benefits from a combination of argan oil, wheat germ oil and cranberry seed oil.
